Changing the Cavia’s colors - DE’s most random decision

I get the lore reason behind it, but why? Why is this a thing? Is this DE’s way of saying that the Cavia are super important characters? When the final battle with Wally happens, will they be there standing side-by-side with us and the Lotus, while Loid is quivering off-screen because he lacks the power of the rainbow like the rest of us?
