What ever happened to the unique drop popups being reserved for unique items?

I remember when they first added the loot popup in the bottom left, it would show you which unique and rare items you got that were separate from the bottom ones. Now everything notifies through that popup, stuff that needs to show just in the normal loot section on the bottom. I don't understand why they have done this because I do not need to know every time i pick up a Deimos loot or carbides or those cubes things.
