I passed MR 9 test but I am still MR 8

After practicing the MR 9 test, I attempted the real test. Passed with 2 attempts left but when the reward screen popped up. It was the MR 8 rewards. Now it says I have to wait 24 hours to test again. Is this just a bug or is there something I need to do to rank up to MR 9? If it is a bug, anyone know how it is triggered? I don't want to end up in this situation again.
