I'm new, from Destiny 2, and Warframe's Energy Regen baffles me

To start, I picked Mag and I love the Magnet Ninja chick. Story wise, I just removed the Meanie-Bad Man's Lowjack, early on in the story. Anyway, her Energy doesn't seem to restore passively and only kills can (sometimes) get me some Energy back. Are there ways to get her Energy to regenerate passively or actively every time I kill someone/etc?

I am also not opposed to outright buying stuff for Warframe/a Tenno thingie, especially since the game appears to be free and values my time by leaving story content alone instead of deleting it 12 weeks later (unlike Destiny 2).
