April 8th, 2013. Update 7.7.2, 3 days after the Manticore Hammer skin and Mire were introduced, 5 days before the Dual Ether, Ether Daggers, or Twin Vipers were introduced. Before Vauban, and before any Primes even existed. There was never an in-game event. Commanders, Seekers, and Troopers did not have unique headgear. I joined the game. I tried to get my best friend "Pyre" at the time into the game, to no avail. He drifted away. I bought the Disciple Founders pack, because I was a wee lad asking for my parents' money and if I couldn't have all the things, I'd rather have none of the things. I meet someone on the forums. They weren't a great friend, but they led me to someone who was and who remains to be my best friend to this day. Someone I've known longer than anyone else, and who has seen other "best friends" come and go: Ace. He and I cowrote a fanfiction (a term that I hate using because everyone looks down on it, and I take the quality and implementation of it very seriously, so instead I'll just say "story") together, starting before the advent of Discord (which was May 13th, 2015). That's right, Skype and Steam days. Mostly Steam, for me. In its rough draft state, the story as of today currently comes out to 960,100 (+6) words in 39,500 paragraphs across 2,343 pages throughout 100 chapters, divided into 6 parts, or "books". As Ace has left the project shortly after it was finished, I am now changing, editing, polishing, and continuing to add to it to this day, slowly. The rough draft was officially "finished" on June 14th, 2017. Almost every single day since some months before May 13th, 2015 up until June 14th, 2017, we sat down and wrote the days away. From what I can recollect, I've bought about 14 Prime Accesses and farmed the other 21 Prime Warframes out, Excalibur Prime and Revenant Prime excluded. I always go for the maximum package, and for those I've farmed, I've bought the Accessories Packs when they came around in the Prime Vault again. Currently, my account also holds 8,585 Platinum. I usually only buy Platinum on its own with discounts, but considering I have no idea how much Platinum I've spent throughout my account's lifetime, I'll assume I got this number strictly from undiscounted Platinum purchases not from Prime Access. 14 Tier 3 Prime Accesses x $140 = $1,960. 21 Prime Vault Accessories Packs x $20 = $420. 4,300 Platinum x2 (8,600, or roughly 8,585): $400. Add it all together and we can wager I've spent at the very least around $2,780 on Warframe. In-game, anyway. That's not including Supporter Packs, or my 3 virtual TennoCon and TennoCon Relay tickets. Nor my TennoCon 2020 shirt, and MR30 shirt/pin. I have participated in every Event since Warframe's conception. I have spent 5,423 hours in Missions alone, meaning I've spent the other 4,577 hours Crafting, in my Dojo, in Relays, or running in the background because I needed as a reference for ANYTHING in the story. Oh, and I'm trying to turn it into an animated webseries. Thanks to DE and with the help of Blender, the fantastic program/community (on the professional side, at least) it/they is/are, I've found a passion in animation, CGI, film direction, and acting and voice acting... alongside writing. Warframe has gotten me through some dark times. It is no exaggeration to say it has saved my life. I am enthralled with the world, and the game continues to be a blast. Watching it and DE evolve from beginning to current day has truly been half the experience. I always say, the Butterfly Effect is a crazy thing... Through Warframe, I've met people and discovered other media that have in even more indirect ways changed my life forever. Auras were Artifacts. Stances didn't exist: Melee was unequipable. We knew so little we couldn't even really begin to theorize. We had Fusion Cores instead of Endo, which were Mod cards you had to INDIVIDUALLY SELECT to rank up your other Mods. Abilities were equippable Mods, and my favorite was Super Jump. Mesa has many more Peacemaker animations, but because she has a reticule you have to aim now, you'll never see them. We had THE CONCLAVES. Before Teshin. With no PvP balancing whatsoever. And it was terrible. We had Dark Sectors. More specifically, Solar Rail Conflicts. Which, I think, at least for the time, was the best Warframe's Warframe vs Warframe PvP has ever been/was ever going to get. And before that, we had Dark Sectors. Or Solar Rail Conflicts. 1.0. A PvE Mission against Warframe Specters on an Orokin Tower that you would Sabotage. We had Survival in place of every Excavation, so yes, Oxygen was getting sucked out of the atmosphere. But before Survival was Raids. Not the ones you're thinking of, no. We rushed through a mission and collected a glowy thing and left. It was like Capture, but somehow shorter. Before Spy, we had Deception. There were no Sabotage Objectives, and Caches did not exist. We had coptering, hallway heroes, rushing, and the truest definition of wallrunning. Jackal was yellow, Vor was a red Butcher with a Prod, but before that, he was a White Butcher and looked like a mascot for Colgate. Tyl Regor was the same, but blue and with an upsidedown mask, that ended up part of his new design. Originally, his 1.0 didn't have the Arid Hellion helmet. Vay Hek was a Lancer that cloned himself, but for the longest time, the colors of his clones were bugged yellow so you could always pick the gray one out of the bunch. Ruk was basically a Bombard with a Gorgon. Kela was a Ballista, but was a Bombard, with a dumbfired rocket that travelled VERY fast and it was terrifying. The Hyenas were what the Lynx is today, without the Osprey. The Raptors were a single Osprey. Which, by the way, you had to manually pick up your Warframe parts. And the parts weren't always guaranteed, either. And sometimes they could fall off the environment and not reappear. When they became guaranteed but you still had to pick them up, it took me 40 attempts to get Nova. Ash was probably somewhere in the 20's, and he came from Tyl Regor. I don't have any pictures from the old days still with me, but I do have a recreation of what my Excalibur looked like back then, Gamma Palette and all. There's my Sentinel, Shade, who I've named Wilfred, enjoying his retirement in the same color scheme as my Excalibur that I've never changed, only ever updated. There's my most used Warframe to this day, the master race, at least for a time, Loki. He needs a rework and I don't care what any of you say. Nowadays, naturally, as per my name, I "main" Valkyr. And here's my cat, Selene, who comes with me everywhere I go in Wilfred's stead. Old habits die hard. 25 updates later, and I'm here. Warframe has seen me hit puberty, get a job, and purchase two used cars. 10,000 hours is 1.14 years. The average male lifespan in the US is 75 years. That means I've spent 1.52% of my full life as a Tenno. Hopefully I make it to a HEALTHY 100 though and it's actually just 1.14%. Please make Warframe playable offline before it shuts down in however many years to come.
