Styanax is the second Warframe with unique and powerful shield-based mechanics. Evidently, DE intended Styanax be modded for high shields, or at least to substantially reward players who chose to do so.
And it kind of works. You do get pretty fantastic crit buffs from Redirection and maxed out overshields, which he can produce with his base kit somewhat easily depending on the mission.
That said, I know I'm not alone when I say that shields may be overdue for some slight reworks to their mechanics. I have zero issue with shield gating or dragon key meta for endurance runs. That playstyle is so restrictive that I honestly don't have a problem with it's existence in the game.
But what ideas are there for alternative shield mechanics? Should we just get a new set of mods that effectively function as "shield armor" mods? Should there be multiple "mini" shield gates every X amount of shields? Should they innately have a reduced form of adaptation?
What do we think?
Edit: To clarify, the discussion is how DE could change shields as to encourage buffing their max capacity with mods. At present, shields are the meta for mitigating the extreme damage from endurance runs. But that meta involves shrinking them, not buffing them.
