What is that supposed to mean? Am I killing the ships attacking me, or is there some specific target... somewhere... that I am supposed to be taking out? I am swarmed by enemy ships, and my gun isn't doing jack to them - when I can hit them. The cannon isn't hitting anything either. This is the part where your supposed to board the enemy ship but you have to toke out "priority targets" before.
